The Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe is an exact photographic replica of the original Miraculous Image of Our Lady, which she left on Blessed Juan Diego's Tilma on December 12, 1531 in Mexico City. It is a gift from the Catholic people of Mexico to the Catholic people of the United States through the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe. In 1991 it was named a "Missionary Image" and blessed as such by the late Cardinal Posadas of Mexico on behalf of all the Mexican Bishops and by representatives of the Basilica. They said that Our Lady's Mission was to end abortion and convert millions and supported her mission with their prayers.

The Guardian of the Missionary Image is Daniel J. Lynch of St. Albans, Vermont. Mr. Lynch is the President of a non-profit organization which coordinates the Journey of the Image. Mr. Lynch is a judge, retired lawyer, author and public speaker.

He sends the Image to local Guardian Teams who have requested Visitations. They prepare the reception and coordinate all liturgical events with the local pastors and the Bishops. The Visitations often include churches, abortuaries, monasteries, convents, prisons, hospitals, nursing homes and schools.

The Journey Visitations

The Missionary Image has journeyed since June of 1991 from the International Rosary Congress at the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception throughout America and the world. The Image has visited over 1000 parishes in every state in America, the Caribbean Islands, Canada, Mexico, Ireland, England, Europe, Russia, China, the Philippine Islands, Japan and Israel. The Image has received the veneration of hundreds of thousands. There have been thousands of Masses, Confessions, hours of adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Rosaries in the presence of the Image.

The Image has led the largest pro-life Rosary processions ever in various cities including Dublin, Ireland; Port of Spain, Trinidad; Melbourne, Australia and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Many abortions have been prevented and at least twenty abortuaries have been closed through Our Lady's intercession by her Missionary Image. Irish clergy credit her intercession for voting down a proposed Constitutional amendment to "legalize" abortion in Ireland. Many conversions, healings, reconciliations and graces have been reported.

Visitations Save Lives

Through her Missionary Image, Our Lady has melted the hearts of many women who planned to have their babies killed by abortion.

Cathy, a professional journalist, interviewed Dan Lynch at a Marian Conference. She asked him, "How will Mary end abortion?" He replied, "She will melt hearts and the melted heart of a mother would never consider killing her innocent helpless child, she will reverence the life within her and bring it to birth!"

At this point Cathy broke down crying and told him, "I had an abortion ten years ago. You are the first person in the world that I have told. I named my son Joshua and have asked him to forgive me."

Mr. Lynch quickly arranged for her to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist that day for the first time since her abortion. They both felt great joy for her response to Our Lady's call to come back to the Sacred Heart of her Son and His Holy Church. She now evangelizes youth to be chaste and to revere life.

Cathy later became pregnant again. She was told by her doctor that her placenta was damaged and that she would probably have a miscarriage. She called the Missionary Image apostolate and asked for prayers to Our Lady of Guadalupe. When Cathy returned to her doctor, a sonogram showed a healthy placenta! She later gave birth to a healthy son, Alexander.

Our Lady of Guadalupe also saved another mother who had four abortions! She said, "I now consecrate myself daily to the holy Virgin Mother of Guadalupe and I ask her to make me an instrument to end abortion through melting hearts. I believe that Our Lady of Guadalupe will heal all those who have been wounded by the grave sin of abortion and that she is the shield that will protect the unborn children and their mothers."

The Seven Pillars of Truth for Healing from
Post Abortion Traumatic Stress Syndrome

I would now like to say a special word to women who have had an abortion. The Church is aware of the many factors which may have influenced your decision. Certainly what happened was and remains terribly wrong. But do not give in to discouragement and do not lose hope. The Father of mercies is ready to give you His forgiveness and His peace in the Sacrament of Reconciliation."

Pope John Paul II, The Gospel of Life

  1. God said, "Thou shalt not kill." Fifth Commandment. Jesus said, "You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free!" Jn 8:32

  2. The truth is that your abortion was a sin.

  3. You disobeyed God and killed your unborn child.

  4. But, God loves you! He is merciful and wants to forgive you, free you and grant you peace. Your child prays for you and also wants this for you.

  5. You must confess to God (preferably through a priest, minister, rabbi or friend) that you sinned, say that you are sorry and ask forgiveness from God and promise with His help never do it again.

  6. Likewise, you must do the same to your dead child. You should give him or her a name, tell him or her that you are sorry for being responsible for the death, ask forgiveness, and pray that the child's soul is saved and living with God in everlasting life.

  7. Accept and believe in the forgiveness of God and your child, your reconciliation with them and your healing. Now forgive yourself. The truth has set you free!
