Dan Lynch and Mercy
for Terri Schiavo

Terri Schiavo’s husband, Michael, lives with another woman with whom he has fathered two children. Michael has spent almost a ½ million dollars of Terri’s money on legal fees to try to kill her by pulling Terri’s feeding tube. The judge sentenced her to death and ordered that she be starved and thirsted to a very painful death beginning on March 18 at 1:00 PM..

Terri is not dying. She is dependent on a feeding tube like so many other people who are dependent on oxygen tanks whom you see in public.

Terri’s mother and father are fighting for her life because they love her very much and don’t want her to be killed. They don’t want her to die at the cruel hands of her estranged husband who has tried to kill her for the last seven years. They want to help her get the rehabilitation and therapy she needs so badly. They love her, want to care for her and want her to be happy.

Terri is NOT brain dead. She is NOT in a coma. She is NOT in a “persistent vegetative state.” And she is NOT on any life-support system.

Terri merely receives food and liquid through a gastro feeding tube because her brain injury prevents her from being able to swallow. In other words, Terri depends on food and water to stay alive - just like you and me!

Pope John Paul II said,

I should like particularly to underline how the administration of water and food, even when provided by artificial means, always represents a natural means of preserving life, not a medical act. Its use, furthermore, should be considered, in principle, ordinary and proportionate, and as such morally obligatory. . .  (Pope John Paul II, Address, Life-Sustaining Treatments and Vegetative State April 3, 2004).

Many people ask the question, “What would Jesus do?” Well, Jesus said, “ Little girl, get up” and he told her family to “give her something to eat.” (Mk. 5:41,43).

Let’s be like Jesus and help to restore Terri to her parents so that they can get her up, give her something to eat and keep feeding her so that she does not die of starvation.

On March 10, I will go live on Relevant Radio, a national Catholic radio program, as a guest on the Drew Mariani Show at 5:30 Eastern Standard Time. (www. relevantradio.org). I was a judge for 25 years and as a judicial expert I will critique Terri’s judge’s unjust rulings, including her death sentence.

On March 12, I will go to Terri’s hospice in Florida to pray the Divine Mercy Chaplet for her life. Please join me in spirit and pray the Chaplet for her, as you are able. Jesus told St. Faustina, “When they say this Chaplet in the presence of the dying, I will stand between My Father and the dying person, not as the just Judge but as the Merciful Savior.”  (Diary, 1541).

I will pray in union with Terri’s parents that Jesus will come and save Terri. We will pray like the royal official who prayed to Jesus, “Sir, come down before my child dies.” (Jn. 4:49).
